In 1952, Jack O'Neill opened a surf shop in a garage in California. At that time, he shaped a few balsa boards and sold some accessory products. Jack later became deeply involved in the development of wetsuits. After several trials with different materials, he accidentally came across neoprene and discovered the rich properties of this material. His neoprenes then met with great success and the company grew. Today, O'Neill has diversified and also handles technical ski/snowboard clothing.
