A tear-resistant and flexible leash with a padded strap and a strong velcro closure so nothing separates the surfer from their board.
Your leash offers you security; you need to be able to rely on it.
There are the following types:
From the Competition Leash (suitable only for lightweight boards and small waves), to Regular Leashes (versatile leashes for all types of boards and conditions) to Big Wave Leashes (extra thick leashes for SUP boards or extreme conditions; these leashes are stiffer and heavier and are therefore not recommended as a versatile leash)
The length of the leash depends on the length of the board.
The leash should be a maximum of 5-6 inches longer or shorter than the board:
6-foot leash = 5.6 - 6.6 feet board length
7-foot leash = 6.6 - 7.6 feet board length
8-foot leash = 7.6 - 8.6 feet board length
9-foot leash = 8.6 - 9.6 feet board length
10-foot leash = 9.6 - 10.6 feet board length
